There are over 2000 hotels in and around Paris. Choose from a range of boutique hotels, luxury hotels, budget hotels and apartments.
When thinking of booking a hotel in Paris there are a few things to consider. The historic streets and buildings of Paris are a large part of its charm but these are from a different era and modern Paris has had to adapt to the needs of the modern traveller. This has been achieved my varying degrees of success. Most visitors to Paris choose 3 star hotels which will offer good bathroom facilities, an elevator and breakfast room and for the most part air-conditioning.If you want amenities such as private gym, restaurant plus air-conditioning you will need to book a 4 or 5 star hotel and pay a high price - especially in high season. For budget travellers 2 star hotels can be an adequate choice with some interesting locations on offer. Check Booking.com's on-line reviews and for different seasons as air-conditioning in March or October may not be as important.

so How do you choose a hotel in Paris?

Although it is great to be in the centre of the city (the 1st arrondissement) the better deals in the outskirts should not be ignored as the metro system, buses and trams makes access from here very easy.

If you do not want to be too reliant on public transport then choose the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th arrondissements or close to the river Seine in the 5th, 6th, and 7th. You will of course pay more to be in these locations but if your budget allows then these are the neighborhoods to be. If you are fit and enjoy walking then many of the major sites are still accessible from the fringes of the 9th. 10, 11th, & 12th arrondissements.
If you decide to choose a hotel further away from the centre, in the 18th (Montmartre) for examole, it’s worth knowing how close the nearest Métro station is and whether it’s on one of the main lines such as 1, 4, 7, or 14 that are best for accessing the popular tourist sites.
