The station is built on multiple levels and is a fine example of late 18th century architecture and is immediately recognisable by its clock tower. The station is home to the famous 'Le Train Bleu' restaurant, which has been catering for travellers and diners since 1901 in a beautiful ornate setting. Despite the classic design, the station has been thoroughly modernized to accommodate France's high-speed TGV trains serving south of the country as well as Switzerland and Italy.
